The term "national celebration", which originally referred to the national celebration, was first seen in the Western Jin Dynasty. The literary scholar Lu Ji of the Western Jin Dynasty wrote in the article "The Five Lords" that "the state celebrates only its benefits, the Lord is worried about its harm". In the feudal era, the most important national celebration was the enthronement of the emperor and his birth anniversary. Therefore, in ancient times, the Emperor's enthronement and birth were called "National Day". Today, the anniversary of the establishment of the country is called National Day.
October 1, 1949, is the anniversary of the founding of New China, and on October 2, 1949, the Central People's Government adopted the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China, stipulating that October 1 of each year is the National Day and that this day is the day on which the founding of the People's Republic of China is proclaimed. Since then, October 1 every year has become a festival of solemn celebration for people of all nationalities. Once National Day has become a new, national holiday, it has taken on the function of reflecting the cohesiveness of the country and the nation. At the same time, the large-scale celebrations on National Day are a concrete manifestation of the government's mobilizing and rallying power. The main content of National Day celebrations is to show power, enhance national confidence, reflect cohesion, and exert rallying power.
The National Day is celebrated on October 1 every year, and in 1999, China revised and released the "National Holidays and Commemorative Days", which combined the National Day with the adjacent Saturday and Sunday to form a 7-day National Day holiday, called the "National Day Golden Week", to let the people feel the joy of the National Day together.
